Burnham Beeches Hotel is committed to achieving best practice environmental and social sustainability and has partnered with Earth Check, the world’s leading benchmarking and certification provider.

EarthCheck Accredited

At the hotel we recognise the activities and services provided can have the potential for negative impact on the environment and community, if not properly managed. As such, we have implemented an Environmental Management System that meets the requirements of the EarthCheck company standard and we are incredibly proud to be Bronze Benchmarked.

Our Initiatives:

In our bedrooms we offer guests a sustainable drinking water solution with our Cart on Water. The packaging is a plant-based carton and sugarcane cap made from renewable and sustainable materials sourced from responsibly managed forests. The cartons are sent efficiently in rolls to be filled, lowering the carbon footprint. They are safely refillable and entirely recyclable!

We provide recyclable amenities for guests when required including toothbrushes. The coffee and tea provided in our bedrooms is from Taylor's of Harrogate who are members of the Ethical Tea Partnership. They are certified carbon neutral and in 2021 were awarded the United Nations Climate Action Now Award, plus their packaging is recyclable. We use china mugs that can be washed and reused rather than plastic or paper. The rooms’ lights also operate on a key card so use of electricity is managed efficiently.

Our delicious meat is supplied by a local Butcher, Timpsons. Lowering our carbon footprint for delivery and emissions. We source all ingredients as locally as possible to support in this initiative.

Did you know we have onsite bee hives? Any honey used in our dishes or served to our guests is homemade by our very own bees!

We use a waste specialist Veolia to manage our waste disposal responsibly.

We use 100% recyclable take away boxes in our restaurant. We also use eco-friendly coffee pods throughout the hotel.

We are working to develop as many eco friendly partnerships as possible across the hotel. We have introduced Chapel Down wines to our drinks menus, Chapel Down is England's leading wine producer with an award winning range of sparkling and still wines, all produced in Kent. They are founding members of 'Sustainable Wines of Great Britain' which promotes sustainable practices across the industry. Plus as they are English we are reducing our carbon footprint!

Temple Spa - Our wonderful spa product partner is totally committed to continuous environmental improvement plans. 100% of their product tubes are recyclable plus they've removed over 7.3 tonnes per year of non-recyclable plastics from the ecosystem by having conscientious packaging. They are also cruelty free and vegan and vegetarian friendly!

Wherever possible (so as not to impact guest experience!), we are reducing our print volume and looking at smarter ways to display information. Our brand new check in pods at reception will have a big impact on this as well as the TV screens and use of other technologies throughout the hotel. Where we do need to print, we will use recyclable materials as much as possible.
