Create a Spooktacular Halloween Cocktail at Home!
Bringing the Bar Experience to Your Home This Halloween
Halloween is just around the corner, and whether you’re hosting a spooky soirée or enjoying a quiet night in, there’s no better way to celebrate than with a delicious themed cocktail! Here at Burnham Beeches Hotel, we love creating drinks that capture the spirit of each season, and Halloween is no exception. Our new bar man, George has concocted a simple yet spellbinding recipe that will turn your home into a haunted speakeasy. Let’s get started!
The “Ghostly Grove” - A Frightfully Fabulous Halloween Cocktail
Our featured Halloween drink, the Ghostly Grove, combines rich fall flavors with a hauntingly beautiful presentation. This potion-like cocktail is the perfect blend of spiced rum, apple cider, and pomegranate juice for a festive, dark red hue that’s both eerie and enchanting.
Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz spiced rum
- 1 oz pomegranate juice
- 2 oz apple cider (for that irresistible fall flavor)
- 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp activated charcoal powder (optional, for a ghostly effect)
- Ice
- Pomegranate seeds and rosemary sprig for garnish
Instructions:
- Prepare the glassware: For an extra spooky feel, try a crystal-cut glass or a vintage-style coupe. Add a few pomegranate seeds and a sprig of rosemary to the bottom.
- Create the cocktail: In a cocktail shaker, add the spiced rum, pomegranate juice, apple cider, lemon juice, and a pinch of activated charcoal powder (if using). Fill the shaker with ice and shake for about 15 seconds until well-chilled.
- Serve and garnish: Strain the drink into your prepared glass. The pomegranate seeds will add a “bubbling cauldron” effect, while the rosemary sprig looks like a tiny broomstick. Lightly “smudge” the rosemary for a hint of fragrance to enhance the eerie atmosphere.
- Enjoy your Ghostly Grove! With each sip, you’ll taste the essence of autumn along with a touch of Halloween spirit.
Tips from Our Bar Team
- Play with Presentation: Try rimming the glass with black sugar for a ghoulish twist, or add a touch of dry ice to give your drink a ghostly fog.
- Make it Boo-zy or Boo-less: For a non-alcoholic version, simply replace the spiced rum with a splash of ginger beer and add a few dashes of cinnamon.
At Burnham Beeches Hotel, we believe that every season should be celebrated in style, and Halloween is no exception. So gather your ingredients, turn on your favorite Halloween playlist, and mix up a Ghostly Grove to toast to a hauntingly good night. Cheers to making memories—haunted or not...
